I’m not particularly one who thinks that these buses should be kept as close to the originals as possible, not particularly one at all. So we dipped into our local Joan fabrics, bought ourselves some supplies and went for it. The gallery below shows the process from start to finish, though with quite a bit less of the in between.

Supplies

  • 4″ High Density Foam, for the cushions.
  • Several yards of fabric, including some extra so that I can eventually cover the top bunk (aka, Tristan’s room) which wasn’t in nearly as bad shape but could still use a little sprucing up one day.
  • Scissors, thread, a thimble, all of the gear of which Olivia once would have so lovingly taken care.
Ingredients: two pillows, 4" high density foam, and loads of fabric. The original sofa bed...seen better days. ruined vinyl coming off ta da! Paisley and orange plaid.

A day and a half, and a pretty major blood blister on my thumb, later and we were in business!
